The classic soldered alembic is the traditional Portuguese copper still: a round boiler, a helmet (capitel) on top and a copper coil in a separate cooling tank. It is the simplest design there is, and many distillers still consider it the best for character-rich spirits, because the copper reacts with sulphur compounds and leaves a cleaner, rounder distillate.
This version is made for liquid raw material: wine, fermented must and other clear ferments. The boiler has a 2.5″ threaded drain spout so it can be emptied and cleaned quickly. The 2.5″ stainless steel drain valve itself is sold separately.
